How are you?
I never thought these three words would carry so much weight.
Before breast cancer, “How are you?” used to be a superficial question with a fixed answer, “I’m fine.”
But now, it carries a depth of meaning that often goes beyond the surface. It has evolved into a loaded question, ridden with memories, reflections, and emotions.
I can only speak for myself, but the answer to “how are you?” after cancer isn’t that simple.
And truth be told, I still struggle with this question.
Based on where I’m currently at, I guess my answer is… “It depends on the day. And some days, it depends on the hour. And some hours, it depends on the minute.”
So… if I may ask, how are you?
